The TOP244PN is a TOPSwitch-GX EcoSmart offline switch built into an 8-pin DIP package. TOPSwitch-GX employs the same proven technology as TOPSwitch that affordably integrates high-voltage power MOSFETs, PWM control, fault protection, and other control circuitry on a single CMOS chip. It has many new features built in to reduce system cost, improve design flexibility, and ensure high levels of performance and energy efficiency. The TOP244PN features soft start, frequency ripple for reduced EMI, wider DCMAX, hysteretic thermal shutdown, and superior creepage distance packages. In addition, all critical parameters (current limit, frequency, PWM gain) have tighter absolute and temperature tolerance to simplify design and optimize system cost. 28W output power at 230VAC and 20W between 85VAC and 265VAC in open frame design Output power of 16W at 230VAC and 11W between 85VAC and 265VAC on adapter in non-ventilated casing Extended power range for higher power applications Longer duty cycle for higher power input capacitor with reduced size Regulates to zero load with no simulated load 132KHz frequency reduces transformer/power supply size Hysteretic thermal shutdown for automatic recovery after fault Large thermal hysteresis that prevents overheating of the PCB Switching frequency of 132KHz (frequency pin connected to source) and 66KHz (connected to control) Operating junction temperature range -40°C to 150°C
